Flaxseed Oil is a Heart Healthy Supplement
While a diet high in saturated fat has been linked to many chronic diseases, a diet low in saturated fat but high in essential fatty acids helps prevent those very same diseases.
As a general essential fatty acid (EFA) supplement, Flaxseed Oil is considered the best choice for most people; it’s a nutritive food that can easily be incorporated into the diet without side effects.
Rich in the important Omega-3 oil, Alpha-Linolenic Acid, Flaxseed Oil is the preferred supplement of leading health and nutrition experts.
Flaxseeds are the most abundant source of natural compounds which can be converted by bacteria in the digestive system to lignans, unique, natural compounds which demonstrate impressive health benefits.
These benefits include positive effects in relieving menopausal hot flashes, as well as anticancer, anti-bacterial, antifungical, and antiviral activity.
Flaxseed oil may also be the best choice for women going through menopause or women at risk for breast cancer.

Benefits of Fish and Flaxseed Oils
What are the benefits of fish and flaxseed oils?
There is research showing that the omega-3s in fish oil may help stabilize mood, improve brain function and protect your heart. In addition, there is research showing that the omega-3s in flaxseed offer heart- healthy benefits. Both fish and flaxseed oils help control and support the body’s natural inflammatory response.
What are essential fatty acids?
Both fish oil and flaxseed oil contain essential fatty acids, also known as EFAs. They are nutritionally- valuable and considered necessary fats because humans cannot synthesize them and must be obtained through diet. EFAs support the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems. Omega-3 and omega- 6 fatty acids are the two main groups of essential fatty acids. Fish oil and flaxseed oil are both excellent sources of omega-3. Flaxseed contains both omega-3 and omega-6.
Should I include both Omega-3 and Omega-6 in my diet?
A proper ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 is important for maintaining good health and help balance the body’s own inflammatory response. Omega-6 is important for healthy skin and maintaining heart health. It is found in foods such as eggs, meat, poultry, vegetable oils, baked goods, and margarine. Cold-water fish such as Salmon, Mackeral, etc. are the major dietary sources of omega-3s. Unfortunately, the modern diet has evolved to typically provide too many omega-6 fatty acids in relation to omega-3s, causing an imbalance in the inflammation response in the body that may negatively affect health.
How do I balance my Omega-3 and Omega-6 intakes?
The balance should consist of one to four times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. However, the typical American diet, which tends to be high in meats and various processed foods, provides 11 to 30 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids. Taking daily supplements rich in omega- 3s and including fish as a regular part of your diet can help balance the critical intake of the EFAs.
Can I take both fish oil and flaxseed oil at the same time?
You can take fish oil and flaxseed oil at the same time as long as you divide the doses to equal one complete dose (totaling 3,000-4,000 mg) because they both offer a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, providing similar health benefits in the body.
How much of the essential fatty acids (EFAs) do I need daily?
The average American diet provides more than adequate amounts of omega-6 fatty acids. As for omega-3 fatty acids, while there are no official recommended daily dosage amounts according to current RDA guidelines, most nutrition experts agree 3,000-4,000 mg of fish oil or flaxseed oil is valuable. Recommended dosage guidelines are provided on the individual product labels. If you want to include both fish and flaxseed oil in your daily regimen, it is recommended to divide the dosage between the two supplements. (Total 3,000mg - 4,000mg daily is sufficient.)
Do fish oils and flaxseed oils have the potential to interact with medications?
You should not take fish oil or flaxseed oil if you bruise easily, have a bleeding disorder or are using an anticoagulant prescribed by a physician. They may further thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding. Be sure to check with your Pharmacist or Doctor if you have any questions regarding these or other medications and potential interactions with nutritional supplements.
Is there mercury or other contaminants in the fish oil products?
The active ingredients in our fish oil supplements (including our MEG-EPA and SALMON OIL Capsules) are derived from deep ocean waters. The fish oil is not supplied from farm raised fish. Using advanced molecular distillation processing assures the fish oils purity and potency and removes unwanted PCBs (polychlorinated byphenyls) and dioxins. Mercury is undetectable.* * Less than 0.1ppm (part per million)
